CARD CANCELLATION
LOOMED
Live racing and simulcast wagering at
Fraser Downs were within minutes of being cancelled last
Saturday because of problems receiving an in-coming signal.
The Downs, unable to show odds and
payoffs on its tote board Friday and Saturday, also was
without the signal on Saturday to bring in any track’s odds
and results.
“We were extremely disappointed with
the tote failure on Saturday for two reasons,” said Chuck
Keeling, Downs’ general manager. “Telus was aware we had a
problem with our connection to Hastings on Tuesday, and that
it took four hours to fix the failure that occurred Saturday
morning.
“Another five minutes, and we were
preparing to cancel Saturday afternoon's live card of
racing.
“Obviously we take this issue very
seriously and we will be pursuing our concerns with Telus
throughout the week,” Keeling added.
