Bre X sets track record -- again

For the second straight week Bre X has set the Fraser Downs track record.

The six-year-old gelded son of Dal Reo Hop Sing out of Punch Line was much the best Friday in covering the mile in 1:53.2, 1/5 of a second faster than the mark he set a week ago.

Bre X, driven by leading driver Bill Davis, grabbed the two-hole behind leader Sierra Speed and was 1 lengths back at the half after quarter fractions of 28.1 and 57.4. He pulled first up just after the half and rolled away from the field, winning by six lengths, covering the last quarter in 27.2 seconds.

Sierra Speed (Sierra Kosmos-Deep Purple) held on for second and Pee Tee O (Scruffy Hanover-Barbies Best) was third for the second week in a row.

Bre Xs clocking of 1:53.3 last week knocked 1/5 second off the former mark shared by Scruffy Ben, Hot Steam, Red Star Admiral and Nazko Promise.

Bre X is trained by Waye Isbister and owned by Kadence Stables of Coquitlam and Tante Stables of New Westminster.

He now has 12 wins (and eight seconds and three thirds) in 24 starts in 2003 and has earned more than $83,000 in 2003 and $279,566 lifetime.
