New Fraser Downs Racing Season Invites Community Involvement

August 31, 2009

Free Parking - No Admission - Ideal for Private Groups

The welcome sign will be bigger and brighter than ever when the 2009-2010 harness racing season opens at Fraser Downs on Friday, Sept. 11.

General Manager Chuck Keeling has endorsed a schedule that will have several special dates set aside during the upcoming 107-day meet to accommodate private groups and community gatherings.

“Our Clubhouse and Homestretch facilities provide ideal opportunities for our guests to get together in numbers from 20 to 100 or more on any given race date,” Keeling said. “With free parking, free admission and promotional bonus packages, we are able to make group visits price friendly.”

Having eliminated Saturday afternoons in favour of Saturday evenings, the 2009-2010 season includes 40 Friday nights, 41 Saturday nights, 22 Sunday afternoons, three Thursday nights and one Wednesday afternoon (Remembrance Day, Nov. 11).

“Traditionally, group sales have been a popular and trendy feature at Fraser Downs,” Keeling says. “We’ll be reaching out this year to our neighbours in Langley, Surrey, Maple Ridge, Pitt Meadows, White Rock, Abbotsford and Delta in an effort to help promote community events.”

THE CLUBHOUSE

This premier dining and racing venue is in such demand that group reservations are required well in advance. That doesn’t come as a surprise when you consider floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the track and individual television monitors at each table. Not to mention a tantalizing buffet that features a variety of seafood selections, a carving station and sensational salad bar. The dessert menu is so plentiful it warrants its own table!

THE HOMESTRETCH

With trackside and terraced tables, again with floor-to-ceiling windows, The Homestretch caters to horse owners and dedicated racing patrons. Also, there are large areas at the west end of the facility dedicated for groups of all sizes. Guests in The Homestretch can also enjoy an elaborate buffet.

Reservations for both The Clubhouse and The Homestretch can be made by telephone at 604-575-5603 or by email: reservations@fraserdowns.com.

Fraser Downs Racetrack & Casino has developed into an entertainment destination with live standardbred racing 10 months of the year; Racebook simulcasts of races at major tracks around the world; more than 400 of the latest slot machines and classic table games such as Blackjack, Mini Baccarat and Roulette.
